Abby Mumpower

Abby Mumpower
Abby is from the Gainesville, Georgia area. She began playing volleyball in middle school and played in high school for Lanier Christian. She is a former Lanier Club Program participant and continued her volleyball career at Truett McConnell University where she graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.  Abby brings enthusiasm and a wonderful defensive knowledge of the game to Lanier’s staff.  She has served 2 seasons as a Head Coach and 1 as an Assistant Coach for Lanier’s Club Program and also coaches in Youth and Summer Programs.

Angel Murphy
Angel was born and raised in Alabama.  She has lived with her husband, John, in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and for the past 13 years, Georgia.  She has 5 children, one of whom plays in Lanier’s Club Program.   The whole Murphy crew plays multiple sports and enjoy sports and outdoors.  Angel grew up playing sports with her father who played volleyball in the Pan American games.  She started playing volleyball in elementary school and continued along with multiple other sports through middle school, high school, club and college (University of North Alabama).   Coach Angel also played college softball and even played 3rd Basement for the Puerto Rican National Softball Team!  With volleyball as her true sports love, she has been coaching since 2000 at the elite club and college levels as well as middle school.  Angel has served as a Head Coach and a Master Coach with Lanier for 2 seasons.

Anna Mumpower

Anna Mumpower
Anna is from the Gainesville, Georgia area.  She began playing volleyball in middle school and played in high school for Lanier Christian.  She is a former Lanier Club Program participant and continued her volleyball career as a Bear at Truett McConnell University.  Anna brings great knowledge of the game and passion to Lanier’s staff and has served 2 seasons as a Head Coach and 1 as an Assistant Coach for Lanier’s Club Program.  Anna also coaches many in Youth and Summer Programs.

Bethany Ross

Bethany Ross
Bethany hails from Jacksonville, FL where she began playing volleyball in 6th grade.  She continued into high school where she helped lead her school, Christ Church Academy, to a state title her senior year!  Bethany has continued her playing career by playing as a Bear at Truett McConnell University.  She is studying Early Childhood Education and looks forward to being a teacher.  Bethany has coached 2 seasons with Lanier as an Assistant Coach in the Club Volleyball Program.

Bill Bush

Bill Bush
Bill grew up in Valdosta, GA and went to university at the University of Georgia. He began playing volleyball as a freshman in college when trying out for the UGA Club team. He played for 4 years at Georgia with experience as both an outside hitter and an opposite. He has been actively involved in the volleyball community here in Gainesville playing in several leagues over the past 6 years. Volleyball taught him a lot about the importance of a team, and he is excited to help continue to teach volleyball technique and tactics in a team setting.  Bill has coached at Lanier for 4 years and also serves as a Master Coach and Director for Lanier Volleyball Club.

David

David Peake
David serves Lanier as its Director of Operations.  He has a heart for teaching children to be men and women who live productive lives as good fathers/mothers, brothers/sisters through working hard and improving at their sport.  David is a 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher in the Hall County School System.  He has an extensive coaching background including 14 seasons combined as a coach of High School baseball and little league as well as Middle School Football.  David also serves a Lanier Middle School League coach for East Hall during the spring.  As a teacher, he has his Masters in Educational Administration and Policy.  David brings to the table a true heart of instilling faith, family and character into the Lanier Volleyball Club program and his administration background lends a unique and helpful organizational and strategic knowledge to this plan.

Jessica Cheij

Jessica Cheij
Jessica began playing volleyball in middle school.  She attended Lassiter High School in Roswell, GA and played high school and club throughout her time there.  She continued her career at Piedmont College for 3 seasons where she continued her force on the court and at the net as a MB.  Jessica has been a Head Coach at Lanier for 3 club season and coached club elsewhere prior to coming to Lanier.  She also enthusiastically coaches in Lanier’s Youth and Summer Programs.

Jessica Williams

Jessica Williams
Jessica has a heart for working with youth and young adults.  With her background in Developmental Psychology and the Lifespan, she was led into a career working with youth and young adults considered to be at risk, in guiding them to develop good, steady futures.  Her volleyball background is beach volleyball where she played coed doubles.  She also played 3 years intramural indoor volleyball during her college years.  Her love for volleyball was preceded by her mother and grandmother who both played volleyball.  She has a daughter who loves the sport and participated in Lanier’s Club Program both as an athlete and coach.  She has coached within Lanier’s Youth Programs and also in the Club Program for 2 years.  Jessica seeks to train young women not only in developing skills for volleyball, but skills for life.

Katie Williams

Katie Williams
Katie began playing volleyball in middle school.  She continued into high school as a leading OH for Flowery Branch High School.  She was a Lanier Club Program participant for 4 seasons and will continue her playing career at Belmont Abbey in NC.  Katie coaches with Lanier’s Youth and Summer Programs and most recently for a season as an Assistant Coach in the Club Program.

Mary Beth Peake

Mary Beth Peake
One of the founders of Lanier Volleyball Club, Mary Beth has a true passion for the sport of volleyball. Her volleyball resume includes 7 years as a player and 14 seasons as a JV, Varsity and Club coach as well as countless hours of private lessons, camps and clinics. She has a heart for teaching young women about volleyball technique and tactics while impacting their lives to help them to be more successful on and off the court.  Mary Beth also serves as Director of Operations for Lanier and as a Head & Master Coach.  She has been married to her husband, David, for 10 years and has 3 precious children, Emma Grace, Isaac and Nathan.

Melinda DeCuir

Melinda DeCuir
Melinda grew up in a south suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She began playing volleyball in 6th grade and her passion for the game has grown ever since. She played as setter throughout high school and was actively involved in the intramural program at Liberty University and various recreational leagues post-college. She is excited to see her team’s love and talent for volleyball grow throughout the season. Melinda has had coaches in the past who have had a large impact on her life, both on and off the court, and hopes she can do the same for the team.  Melinda serves as a Head Coach for both the Youth and Club Programs and has coached at Lanier since its inception in 2014.  Melinda was recently married and lives happily in Gainesville with her husband Arden.
